10 Jaw-Dropping Spring Centerpieces for Every Occasion

The right spring centerpieces will not only decorate a space, but also create an atmosphere – whether it’s a romantic evening, Easter dinner or an outdoor wedding. Especially when it’s spring outside and everything around you is in anticipation of change!

Below I’ve gathered 10 jaw-dropping spring centerpieces  that you can easily put into practice. Some compositions are perfectly preserved for weeks, and some are suitable for one evening. But in either case they will become the main decoration of any space.

1. Tulip & Greenery Centerpiece That Brightens Any Table

Tulip & Greenery Centerpiece

Of course, tulips are the main symbol of spring! They look bright, tender and fresh. And if you add some greenery, the composition will look much more natural, as if the flowers were just cut in the garden.

What you’ll need:

  • 15-20 fresh tulips (it is better to take different shades – from pastel to bright);
  • Sprigs of eucalyptus or ruscus (they will give volume);
  • A glass vase with a height of about 20-25 cm;
  • Ice water to keep the flowers fresh;
  • Half a teaspoon of sugar or a special nutrient solution for cut flowers.

How to make:

  1. Cut the stems of the tulips askew with a sharp knife. This will increase the water absorption area.
  2. Pour ice water into a vase, add some sugar or nutrient solution.
  3. Distribute the tulips so that they look voluminous, not crowded.
  4. Insert sprigs of eucalyptus between them so they frame the flowers.
  5. Change the water every 2 days to keep the flowers standing longer.

Lifehack. If the tulips start to “fall”, wrap them in newspaper and put them in ice water overnight, so they will become resilient again.

I personally use a glass vase like this one, it’s perfect for tulips and looks very elegant.

2. Faux Flower Centerpiece That Looks Like Fresh Blooms

Faux Flower Centerpiece

Live flowers wilt quickly, unfortunately (for example, if the house is hot). And you need a flower arrangement to last a long time. In this case, realistic artificial flowers save the day.

What you will need:

  • A large ceramic or wooden vase;
  • Artificial peonies, hydrangeas and sakura branches (it is important that they have silk petals, not plastic);
  • Small glass pebbles or sand for weighting.

How to make:

  1. Choose two or three primary colors to make the composition look natural. For example, white peonies, soft pink hydrangeas and sakura branches.
  2. Insert tall flowers in the center (such as hydrangeas) and place peonies below to make the whole arrangement look three-dimensional.
  3. Add a few thin sprigs of greenery around the edges to create a lush and natural composition.
  4. Pour pebbles or sand at the bottom of the vase to make the flowers in the vase stable.

Tip. Believe me, good artificial flowers are hard to distinguish from live ones, for example, these silk peonies look very natural, they even have leaves that feel like real ones.

Put the composition near the window, where natural light can reflect from the petals, so they will look even more realistic, as if alive.

3. DIY Wedding Centerpiece That Costs Under $20

DIY Wedding Centerpiece That Costs Under $20

Let’s not spend a lot of money, forget about pretentiousness and create a simple but elegant wildflower arrangement.

What you will need:

  • Glass jars (you can use the same or combine different shapes and heights), only $5 for 6 pieces.
  • White daisies, gypsophila and lavender, $7 (or free if picked in a field)
  • Satin ribbons or lace for decoration, $4 per roll (enough for several jars)

How to make:

  1. Trim the stems of the daisies, gypsophila and lavender so they’re at different heights – it makes the bouquet look more natural.
  2. Fill the jar with clean water (cool water is best – the flowers will last longer that way).
  3. Tie the flowers with thin twine at the base so that they don’t disintegrate in the water.
  4. Insert the bouquet into the jar, pulling the flowers slightly apart on the sides for a lush look.
  5. You can wrap the jar with lace or satin ribbon.
  6. Arrange such compositions in the center of the wedding table, they look very delicate.

As a result, we will get a delicate, vintage decor for a wedding for only 15-20 dollars!

Tip. For flavor, you can drop a drop of lavender essential oil in water.

4. Large Spring Centerpieces for Church and Big Gatherings

Large Spring Centerpieces for Church and Big Gatherings

A floral arrangement for an Easter service or perhaps a spring gala should be tall and showy. Let’s think large-scale and elegant.

What you’ll need:

  • A large urn-shaped vase 50-60 cm high (this is the kind of urn-shaped vase I use for large compositions, it is stable and looks expensive)
  • White lilies, roses, olive tree branches;
  • Foam for flowers (floral sponge).

How to make:

  1. Soak the floral sponge in water and secure it in the vase.
  2. Insert the tallest flowers in the center (such as lilies).
  3. Next, add lush roses around the center.
  4. Finally, insert olive branches and greenery to make the composition three-dimensional.

Place the arrangement in the center of the room or on a pedestal, this will add drama and solemnity to the event.

Tip. Lilies last a long time in water, but their pollen can stain, so remove the anthers before placing the flowers in the arrangement.

5. Outdoor Spring Table Decorations That Won’t Wilt in the Sun

Outdoor Spring Table Decorations

If you’ve decided to plan an outdoor dinner, you need an arrangement that can withstand any weather changes. Fresh cut flowers can wilt quickly, but a good solution is to use fresh potted flowers and natural elements.

What you’ll need:

  • Small ceramic or wicker pots, the optimal diameter is 10-15 cm:
  • Live flowering plants – pansies, daffodils, daisies, lavender or violets are best (they are hardy and not afraid of the sun);
  • Decorative pebbles or moss;
  • A wooden tray or a cut of a tree for placing the composition.
  • Candles in glass candle holders

How to make:

  1. If the flowers were bought in plastic containers from the store, transplant them into pots.
  2. Sprinkle some drainage (fine expanded clay, pebbles) at the bottom of the pot – this will prevent the roots from rotting.
  3. Add fresh soil suitable for flowering plants.
  4. Transplant the flowers by gently loosening the roots, fill the remaining space with soil, tamp down lightly and water.
  5. Place the pots with flowering plants on a tray or a tree trunk at different heights – this will give the composition a natural look.
  6. Fill the empty spaces between the pots with moss or decorative pebbles. This will create a feeling of wholeness and naturalness of the composition.
  7. Add a few candles in glass candlesticks. They will create a pleasant glow in the evening.

Lifehack. After the event, these flowers can be transplanted into the garden, and they will delight you all summer long.

7. Early Spring Floral Arrangements That Bring the Season Indoors

Early Spring Floral Arrangements

Spring may not be in full swing yet, but you can bring it into the house with these early flowers.

What you’ll need:

  • Branches of forsythia, willow or almonds, as you know they are among the first to bloom;
  • Tulips and irises, these are the very first spring flowers that stand well in water;
  • A ceramic pitcher or clay vessel;
  • Slightly heated water (to speed up blooming).

How to make:

  1. If you’re using forsythia or willow branches, put them in slightly heated water – they’ll start blooming faster that way.
  2. Add tulips and irises to them, alternating shades (for example, yellow forsies look great with purple irises).
  3. Opt for a ceramic pitcher instead of a glass vase – it will keep the water cooler for longer.

Tip. If you want to speed up the opening of the buds, simply cut the stems at an angle and put them in warm water for 2-3 hours before arranging the bouquet.

8. Floating flowers – elegance in simplicity

I think many will agree with me that one of the easiest yet spectacular options is a bowl of floating flowers and candles.

What you’ll need:

  • A wide glass bowl or deep plate (a wide glass bowl is ideal);
  • Roses, peonies or gerberas (flowers with large buds);
  • Floating candles;
  • Ice to cool the water (to make the flowers last longer).

  1. Fill a bowl with cold water with ice chunks – this will prolong the life of the flowers.
  2. Cut off the flowers so that only the heads remain.
  3. Arrange the flowers on the surface of the water, leaving space for the candles.
  4. Light the candles before serving – the arrangement will create a romantic glow.

Tip. A few drops of essential oils in the water will fill the whole room with a delightful aroma.

  4. Press the rest of the lemon and lime slices against the sides of the vase and gently pour ice over the top to keep them in one position.
  5. Pour the remaining water to the edges of the vase.

Field arrangement in a basket

To create a rustic style, use choose natural materials – wildflowers and a wicker basket. It is not difficult to do, and such a composition looks really stylish.

  • Field flowers (daisies, cornflowers, lavender – they keep freshness for a long time without water);
  • Dried ears of wheat;
  • Buckthorn or rosehip sprigs, can be used with berries for an accent
  • Newspaper, moss or fabric – to hold the flowers in place
  • Fabric ribbon or twine.

How to make:

  1. You can place rolled up newspaper, moss or a piece of natural fabric in the bottom of the basket – this will help to secure the stems.
  2. First place the dry ears of wheat  – they will create the basis of the composition. Alternate their height to make the composition look natural.
  3. Insert cornflowers and daisies, distributing them over the entire surface. Flowers can be inserted into the moss or simply tucked between the spikes to hold them in place.
  4. Wrap the handle of the basket with satin ribbon or twine.

Such a composition can be used as a gift if you tie a small card with a wish to it.
