Halloween snacks don’t need to be complicated—or require hours in the kitchen. These kid-friendly appetizers use simple ingredients, little to no heat, and plenty of spooky creativity. Adults should handle any cutting, oven, or microwave steps.
1. Ghost Bananas
Peel bananas, cut them in half, and add mini chocolate chips for eyes and a larger chip for a mouth. Serve chilled.
2. Mummy Hot Dogs
Wrap strips of refrigerated crescent dough around hot dogs, leaving a small space for a face. An adult can bake them; kids can add mustard or ketchup eyes afterward.
3. Spider Crackers
Spread cream cheese or peanut butter on round crackers. Add pretzel sticks for legs and raisins or candy eyes for a creepy spider face.
4. Jack-o’-Lantern Oranges
Use a marker to draw pumpkin faces on whole clementines or oranges. For an edible version, place a small piece of celery in the top as a stem.
5. Monster Apple Bites
Spread peanut butter on apple slices, then sandwich two slices together with mini marshmallows as “teeth.” Add candy eyes with a dab of peanut butter.
6. Cheese Stick Brooms
Cut the bottom of a cheese stick into thin fringe strips. Tie on a pretzel stick with a chive or a thin strip of fruit leather to create a witch’s broom.
7. Pumpkin Veggie Cups
Fill clear cups with ranch dip and add carrot sticks, celery, and cucumber slices. Draw a jack-o’-lantern face on the outside of each cup.
8. Halloween Trail Mix
Let kids mix popcorn, pretzels, cereal squares, candy corn, and chocolate candies in a large bowl. Use orange and black cups for serving.
9. Deviled Egg Spiders
Prepare deviled eggs ahead of time. Kids can place half a black olive on top for the spider body and add thin olive slices as legs.
10. Witch Hat Cookies
Place a chocolate kiss in the center of a round chocolate cookie using a small dot of frosting. Pipe or spread orange frosting around the base for a colorful hatband.
Set out the ingredients assembly-line style and let kids make their own spooky creations. The best Halloween appetizers are a little messy, lots of fun, and deliciously creepy!
