Fall is upon us, so it’s time to cook all of the season’s favorite foods. In our house, we’ve been experimenting with gluten-free and dairy-free options for years. It all started when Lindy developed a gluten sensitivity. But honestly, we have never once regretted it!

A hearty gluten-free fall dinner: pumpkin chili with quinoa

Fall is chili season, and we love making a big pot of pumpkin chili with quinoa when it gets cooler outside. This recipe is rich in plant protein and and brings together all the flavors of fall.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 1 can of pumpkin puree (not for pies)
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparing this dish is very simple. Fry the onion and garlic, then add the rest of the ingredients to a large pot. Let the chili stew for 30 minutes, and in the meantime you can do something nice, like reading a book, covered with a warm blanket. This hearty chili is completely gluten-free, great for dinners and has become a regular dish in our house.

Now let’s make something sweet, like gluten free fall dessert recipes. Everyone loves sweets, and we are among the sweet tooth too. Whether you’re preparing for a family holiday party or just want to indulge on a cool fall day, these desserts will appeal to your taste buds.

Apple crisp pie – gluten and dairy free

One of our favorites (and trust us, we’ve tried a LOT of desserts over the years!) is a classic gluten-free fall dessert recipe, namely apple crisp pie. It’s simple, rustic, and the flavors of fall apple varieties fit in perfectly here. And if you’re like us, you probably have a pantry full of apples right now.

Ingredients:

  • 5 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil (or your favorite dairy-free butter substitute)

Apples are the main ingredient in this dessert. They need to be fresh, a little sour, well, and don’t forget to add a generous portion of cinnamon to the batter. The crispy topping is created with almond flour and gluten-free oat flakes, which is what gives the perfect crunchy texture.

Fact. Apples are great for fiber and antioxidants, so feel free to treat yourself!

Gluten-free pumpkin muffins

Pumpkin is one of our favorite fall vegetables. Few people can resist trying delicious dishes made from it. And gluten-free fall recipes can’t do without mentioning pumpkin muffins, which are completely safe for people with gluten and dairy intolerance

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs (or a flax egg for a vegan version)
  • 1 ½ cups gluten-free flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • ¼ cup almond milk (or any dairy-free milk)

What’s remarkable about these muffins? They freeze beautifully! Bake a batch on the weekend and enjoy them throughout the week with a cup of coffee or tea. The muffins stay soft, rich and delicious. Try baking one, see for yourself.

Dairy-free and gluten-free pumpkin pie

No dessert feast is complete without pumpkin pie. That’s why we couldn’t help but mention a gluten-free version of this pie for those who love it so much. Fall gluten-free dessert recipes like this really help out during the holidays. And I promise – you won’t even feel the difference or realize it’s gluten-free or dairy-free.

Ingredients:

  • 1 gluten-free pie crust (you can buy or make your own)
  • 1 can of pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup coconut milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves

This version of the cake replaces the usual milk and butter with coconut milk, which is good for the texture, making it silkier. Bake at 180°C for about an hour and you have a delicious pie for your loved ones and loved ones. And yes, it’s completely gluten-free, so all the guests at the table can enjoy the dessert.

Fall – my favorite time of the year because not to make up complicated dishes for cooking tasty treats.
